1995-present:
VFI hosts the annual American Veteran Awards
which raises appreciation for our service members; raises awareness
of the service-connected conditions: Diabetes, Cancer and Alzheimer's;
raises volunteerism at VA hospitals and military bases; and educates
our youth and the public at large about the history of our military
and each service's role.
1991-present:
VFI furnishes thousands of needy men, women and
children with quality garments donated in large bulk quantities
by apparel companies nationwide. Secondarily, when apparel is
more viable on a liquidation basis, VFI generates funding directly
in support of providing charitable services to veterans, active
duty service members and their families.
1998-1999:
VFI developed a youth educational program to
help instruct America's youth about the honorable history, sacrifice
and daily peacetime responsibilities of the U.S. Armed Forces.
VFI specifically designed an educational curriculum guide , "Take
A.I.M." which has received approval and praise from each
branch of the Armed Forces.
1997:
VFI orchestrated the first ever high school assembly
screening of Connie Steven's documentary, "A Healing"
at Beverly Hills High, which educated 5,000 youth about the women's
Vietnam experience.
1990-1996:
In cooperation with the West Los Angeles Department
of Veteran Affairs Medical Center & Regional Office, VFI
orchestrated the first "Stand Down" for homeless veterans
in Los Angeles County, helping hundreds of men and women to step
out of homelessness and back into mainstream society. Under the
umbrella of VFI, this stand down known as the "Westside
Homeless Veterans Fair" was held annually at the Santa Monica
Civic Auditorium.
1994:
VFI produced a Public Service Announcement, "PSA,"
focused on helping the homeless and aged, which aired on major
network and cable television to raise additional awareness and
support of our homeless veterans.
1990-1998:
VFI joined hands with MBA graduate students from
UCLA, USC and Pepperdine in completing research and development
projects. Students earned academic credit toward their degrees.
There were several different R&D opportunities available
which varied depending upon the MBA Graduate's credit requirements
and VFI's special projects, ongoing programs and events. A few
of the subjects addressed included: radio station development
serving remote areas, benefit concert productions, motion picture
productions, military history, online business ventures homelessness
and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
1990:
VFI funded a research project focused on the
effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, "PTSD,"
on Russian veterans serviing Afghanistan and U.S. veterans serving
in Vietnam.
1987:
VFI's President and CEO produced the "Thank
You Veterans Parade" and concert in Los Angeles, which attracted
50,000 participants and made national recognition of veterans.
1986:
VFI provided fund-raising and technical assistance
for the "Welcome Home Veterans Parade" in Chicago,
which attracted 300,000 participants.
1985:
VFI provided fund-raising and technical assistance
for the "Welcome Home Veterans Parade" in New York,
which attracted 225,000 participants.
1983:
VFI provided funding for defense of a groundbreaking
case, which introduced Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, "PTSD,"
as a legal defnse in criminal courts.
1981-1984:
VFI performed various research studies on Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder.
1981:
VFI was a recipient of funds from rock superstar
Bruce Springsteen's "Concert for Vietnam Veterans"
at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum , which were shared with
the Southern California Vets and Guidance Center in South Central
to improve job training.
1980-1984:
VFI placed over 1,000 unemployed veterans in
apartment management, maintenance and construction jobs through
the creation of the "Veteran Employment Program."
